For the one who…
For the One Who Is Tired
It's okay to stop for a minute and take a breath. I mean that literally.
I don't know about you, but sometimes I get so caught up in everything I'm doing, everything I'm thinking about, and everything I'm trying to carry that I forget to breathe. Sometimes it takes someone actually telling me to breathe before I realize I haven't stopped long enough to take one good, full breath.
So I stop, take a deep breath in, and then slowly let it out. It's amazing what those few seconds can do. It calms me and gives me a minute to reflect on my thoughts instead of allowing them to keep running through my mind.
And sometimes, in that moment, I realize just how tired I really am.
I think we spend so much time trying to hold everything together that we forget we're allowed to be tired. We're allowed to need a minute, and we don't have to keep holding on to everything we're carrying.
So I want you to imagine that all those things you've been trying to carry are inside a bag. The responsibilities, the worries, the expectations, the things you don't have answers for, and maybe even a few things that were never yours to carry in the first place.
Now imagine setting that bag down beside you. You don't have to figure out what to do with everything inside it right now. We can unpack the bag later.
For now, I want you to take five minutes for YOU.
Find somewhere comfortable to sit and close your eyes. Take a slow, deep breath in, and as you do, imagine yourself somewhere peaceful. Maybe it's a field where the grass is gently blowing in the wind, or a shoreline where you can hear the water splashing against the sand. Maybe you're watching the sun slowly disappear beneath the horizon, painting the sky with colors you couldn't have imagined.
Whatever that peaceful place looks like to you, stay there for a moment. Breathe in slowly and imagine the peace of that place filling your lungs. Then gently exhale, allowing yourself to release some of the tension you've been holding.
You don't have to solve anything in these five minutes. You don't have to make a decision, find an answer, or figure out what comes next.
Just sit for a moment and allow yourself to rest.
And before you open your eyes and return to everything waiting for you, I want you to remember something.
You are loved.
Not because of how much you accomplish, how strong you are, or how much you can carry, but simply because you are you.
The bag will still be there when you're ready, and we can unpack it later. But for these few minutes, you have permission to let it sit.
Take one more breath, and when you're ready, open your eyes.
And remember, YOU have permission to breathe.
